Impression City, made its first major step in its development on May 28, when the Encore Melaka Theatre opened its doors to welcome almost 2,000 audience members for a trial performance of Encore Melaka. Helmed by acclaimed director Wang Chaoge from China, the 70-min show features a cast of 200 Malaysian artists including actors, singers, dancers and percussion drummers and is the culmination of years of effort by Datuk Wira Boo Kuang Loon, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysian property developer Yong Tai Berhad. The Encore Melaka theatre boasts innovative and stunning video projection mapping and multi-stage hydraulic sets, advanced lighting and features a 360-degree rotating audience platform. With a goal to make his hometown Melaka an even more attractive tourist destination, Datuk Wira Boo has envisioned Encore Melaka and the theatre to be the heart of Impression City, a 138-acre integrated mixed development in Kota Laksamana in Melaka, fronting the Straits of Melaka. This landmark project with projected gross development value of RM7.0 billion is estimated to be implemented in 8 – 10 years. Besides the Encore Melaka Theatre, Impression City will have hotels such as The Dawn Hotel, serviced apartments, commercial complexes, office towers, retail and shopping centres and a yacht club. List Sotheby’s International Realty, Singapore is the marketing agency of The Dawn Hotel, and recently led members of the media up to view the trial performance of Encore Melaka.
